According to the latest update from the
Coach Tourism Association, the
industry hasn’t just dusted itself off it’s
powering forward with gusto. Bookings
are up, spirits are high, and even the tea
urn at the depot is bubbling with
optimism. Caroline Thorpe at Leger
Shearings says sales are up by double
digits. Skills Holidays is 20% ahead.
And Sean Taggart at Leisuretime
reckons 2025 is already 30% better
than 2024. In short, it’s all going rather
well.
And not just here. Continental tours are
back in fashion. Austria and Italy are
wooing travellers once again, and
apparently, we’re handling the odd port
delay with our usual British stoicism
(and possibly a crossword). Albatross
Travel reports a 7% rise in European
trips, and Acklams Coaches says their
overseas travel is up 12%. Even
premium coach travel business class on
wheels, if you will is booming. Leger’s
Luxuria is enjoying its best-ever sales.
People don’t just want to go
somewhere they want to go there with
their feet up and a bit of extra legroom.
This issue, our cover star is the aweinspiring
Jodrell Bank, a place where
science, space and
coach parking live in
perfect harmony. Home
to the iconic Lovell
Telescope and now a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, it’s the kind of attraction
that makes groups feel small in the best
possible way and it’s just as welcoming
as it is wondrous.
www.jodrellbank.net
It’s against this upbeat backdrop that
we bring you Issue 3, a plump and
pleasing edition packed with groupfriendly
inspiration.
Attractions Designed for Coach
Operators is our nod to those glorious
places that understand the importance
of easy parking, speedy check-ins, and
a sandwich that hasn’t curled at the
edges. These are the destinations that
get it and get you.
Awesome Days Out does exactly what
it says. Expect steam trains, stage
shows, and the sort of attractions
where the gift shop alone is worth the
visit.
In Spotlight on Kent, we rediscover a
county that balances history
and charm with a cheeky
sense of adventure. There’s
more to it than oast houses
and jam though we’re not
knocking either.
Our Historic Houses and Gardens
feature takes you from turret to tea
room in some of Britain’s finest estates,
while Great for Groups rounds up the
tried-and-tested venues that
always deliver.
Reliable, welcoming, and
never short of a good scone.
And finally, Visit Southport.
Oh yes. The pier, the promenade, the
air that smells faintly of candy floss and
seaweed. It’s still got that classic
coastal magic and it still knows how to
roll out the red carpet for coach groups.
So here’s to full diaries, full coaches.

Curtains Up for Coach Groups: West End Hit Cabaret Welcomes New Stars
The glittering lights of
London’s West End are
calling – and there’s never
been a better time for a
coach group trip to the
capital. From 29th May, the
award-winning production
of Cabaret at the Kit Kat
Club unveils an exciting
new cast, making it a
showstopper addition to
any group itinerary.
Stepping into the spotlight
as Sally Bowles is Hannah
Dodd, best known as
Francesca Bridgerton in
Netflix’s global hit
Bridgerton. This marks her
West End and stage debut,
promising fresh energy in a
role that’s defined eras.
She’s joined by Rob
Madge, the Oliviernominated
performer and
social media sensation
whose recent one-person
show My Son’s a Queer
(But What Can You Do?)
enjoyed standing ovations
across the UK.
The production continues
to impress with Daniel
Bowerbank as Clifford
Bradshaw, Vivien Parry as
Fraulein Schneider, Fenton
Gray as Herr Schultz, Fred
Haig as Ernst Ludwig, and
Jessica Kirton as Fraulein
Kost/Fritzie.
Set in the immersive
surroundings of the
transformed Playhouse
Theatre – now the iconic
Kit Kat Club – this is not
just a performance, but an
experience. For coach
groups, the central London
location, exclusive group
booking options, and
unforgettable atmosphere
make Cabaret an ideal day
or evening excursion.

The Coach Tourism Association
CTA’s latest qualitative
survey of coach operator and
wholesaler members reports
an upturn for 2025. Insights
also highlight strength in
Continental tours and
premium products. The
survey invited industry
stakeholders to share views
on current and future
prospects.
Caroline Thorpe, Marketing
Manager at Leger Shearings,
says: “Sales are seeing
double-digit growth over the
prior year, with Shearings —
specifically UK sales —
trading significantly ahead of
the market.”
Neil Leavesley, Head of
Holidays at Skills Holidays,
adds: “We’ve had a really
good start to the year and in
Q2 we are showing a 20%
increase in both revenue and
sales.”
Sean Taggart of Leisuretime
by Toureasy says: “2025 has
started strongly, and we
expect deposited sales to be
up by around 30% by the end
of April, continuing the rapid
and consistent growth seen
in 2024.”
Further feedback includes a
20% year-on-year rise in UK
holidays from Acklams
Coaches, improved Q1 sales
and average loadings from
Albatross Travel, and a 15%
year-to-date increase for
Motts Leisure Day Trips.
After a strong 2024, the
European tour market
continues to grow in 2025.
“Austria and Italy are proving
particularly popular,” says
Taggart. Louise Fitzpatrick,
Head of Sales at Albatross
Travel, adds: “Continental
tours are up 7% year-on-year,
supported by higher load
factors and growing
consumer confidence, even
with port challenges.”
Acklams also reports 12%
growth in European travel.
Demand for premium-level
experiences is similarly
strong.
“Luxuria (Leger’s businessclass
equivalent) is seeing its
highest-ever demand, with
sales up 19% year-on-year,”
says Thorpe.
Outlook for the rest of 2025
remains optimistic. “Full year
travelled sales are forecast to
rise by 4%,” says Fitzpatrick.
Skills Holidays notes August
bookings are up 30%, and
Crusader Holidays sees solid
momentum into 2026.
“Early bookings for 2026 are
currently 40% ahead of this
time last year – the third
consecutive year of strong
early interest,” says Phil
Vockins, General Manager at
Crusader. Leger Shearings
also reports 2026 sales
tracking 20% ahead of 2025
figures at the same stage.
While forward bookings are
strong, the trend for late
bookings also continues.
“Late booking patterns are
particularly encouraging –
we’re seeing strong interest
across all destinations,” says
Taggart.
Leavesley agrees: “The late
booking market is especially
strong. We work closely with
suppliers to respond quickly
— some products have
doubled sales within six
weeks of departure.”
CTA Chair Robert Shaw
concludes: “The latest reports
from our members are
extremely positive for the
current market, the year
ahead, and into 2026. The
coach tourism sector is
performing strongly across
UK and Continental holidays,
reflecting both consumer
confidence and the quality of
experience it provides.”
