been caught trying to access and
coming out of the tunnels.
“Anyone who enters
is potentially committing
an offence. The land is also
very steep and dangerous to
climb and creates a risk to those
attempting to enter,” a LPC
spokesperson said.
Social media posts have
encouraged more people to
the spokesperson.
Residents
urged to
report
water issues
THE CITY council is calling
on people to report any sources
of water contamination around
Lyttelton Harbour.
It is inspecting the stormwater
network in Corsair Bay, Cass
Bay, Governors Bay, Charteris
Bay, Diamond Harbour and
Church Bay to identify potential
sources of contamination in the
harbour.
Said city council acting head
of three waters Gavin Hutchison:
“From leaking septic tanks, damaged
pipes, wastewater overflows,
private cross connections and
freedom camping, there are so
many potential sources.
“We’re keen to hear from the
public if they know of any issues
with the public stormwater network,
so keep your eyes peeled
when you’re out and about in the
neighbourhood.
“Let us know if you see
an overflowing manhole,
contamination in stormwater
pipes, or bad smells that could
suggest faults in the network.”
