THE 5.11 TACTICAL STORY

The name “5.11” originates from the Yosemite

Decimal System, a scale that measures

the difficulty of rock climbing routes.

In the 1950s, a 5.11 rating was considered

one of the most challenging climbs.

The first “5.11 Pant" was specifically designed

for rock climbing, offering extreme durability

along with strategically placed pockets and

straps for accessories and tools. This innovation

redefined functional apparel and laid

the foundation for 5.11’s ongoing commitment

to durability, versatility, and innovation.

FBI Academy F.T.U. adopts the

5.11 Tactical Pant as its training pant.

The 5.11 Pant, named after - at the time

- the hardest degree of climbing in the
