Ferrymead’s
stolen Hilux
found at
scrapyard
• By Geoff Sloan
FERRYMEAD Heritage Park
has welcomed the return of its
Toyota Hilux after it was stolen
on Sunday.
Events manager Jack Fraser
said the 1985 Hilux was driven
through the park gate by the thief
as he made his escape.
“It’s caused considerable damage
to the gate”.
The incident happened about
7pm.
Fraser said the park’s workhorse
was mainly used by the
property department to transport
heavy items, along with gardening
duties. Because it wasn’t
used on public roads it did not
have any registration plates.
The park reached out on social
media for sightings of the vehicle
and driver. However, Fraser said
someone spotted it at a scrapyard
and alerted the park on Facebook.
The Hilux was recovered on
Wednesday and towed back to
the park. The Ferrymead Park
signage had been painted over in
black on both doors.
Fraser said police were investigating
the theft. Parts from the
vehicle were advertised for sale
on Facebook Marketplace
‘Barbaric’ charity boxing
A week-long coronial
inquiry into the 2018 death
of Kain Parsons, who
died after taking part in
a charity boxing match,
is expected to finish
tomorrow. Bay Harbour
News reports on what has
been heard so far
SUMNER BUILDER turned project
manager Kain Parsons sustained
a serious brain injury following a
one-sided contest at the Fight for
Christchurch event on November 3,
2018. His life support was switched
off on November 6 and he died surrounded
by his family aged 37.
On Monday, the coronial inquest
into his death began.
Coroner Heather McKenzie said
the inquest will seek to answer
questions over the safety of such
corporate and charity boxing events,
how Parsons was matched with his
opponent and the officiating of these
events.
On the first day of the inquest, the
court heard statements from members
of Parsons’ family. His mother
Cheryl Gascoigne travelled from
Australia to testify.
She told the court of the last time
she spoke with her son on the phone.
“I asked him not to participate.
I said I don’t feel good about it,”
Gascgoine said.
REMEMBERED: A photo of Kain Parsons and his children has been
placed at the front of the room where the inquest into his 2018
death is being held.
Her son reassured her he would be
fine and that he was committed to the
event and raising money for his chosen
charity.
Gascgoine said she now felt guilty she
had not done more to protect her son.
The youngest of Parsons’ three children
fought back tears as she spoke of
her father. Millie Parsons, now 13, said
she has been without her father for half
her life, the NZ Herald reported.
“I wish we were still a family of five
and there wasn’t an empty spot at the
dinner table.”
Parsons’ widow, Alana Parsons, told
the court her husband felt nervous
before the fight, not because he thought
he would be injured, but because he
thought he was the underdog and
might lose.
Alana Parsons said there had been
a number of interruptions to her
husband’s training, including a head
injury, a trip to Fiji, and the suicide of
a friend shortly before the bout.
She said right from the start, the
fight was not going well for her
husband.
needs to change, widow tells inquest
“Kain looked startled and
shocked,” she said.
“I remember thinking at the
time, this is barbaric, and it is
meant to be for charity.”
The court heard that Parsons
had chosen not to wear head
protection for the bout.
He was given two standing
eight counts before the final
knock down, from which he
never got up.
Alana Parsons said she had initially
been reluctant for her husband
to take part, but he talked
her around. She said she did not
think he would have taken part if
he had known all the risks.
“Every day since Kain died I
wished I had done more, questioned
more, asked Kain not to
participate in the boxing match.
“Yet I feel other interested
parties are only looking to deflect
blame onto others, and to not
accept responsibility for the
part that they have contributed
towards Kain’s death.”
She said she thought it was abhorrent
that charities raised money
through the boxing events, and
hoped she could get some change
to make sure her husband’s death
was not for nothing.
The organiser of the charity
event, Team Event managing
director Callum Mitchell, also
spoke to the inquest on Monday,
RNZ reported.
HIKING BOOTS
& SHOES
TRAGEDY: Kain Parsons died after suffering a brain injury
during the 2018 Fight for Christchurch charity boxing event.
He was questioned over competitors
signing a waiver months
before the event in which they
confirmed they had done sufficient
training and had no medical issues.
Mitchell agreed it would be
preferable if the waiver was signed
closer to the actual fight.
He told the inquest that competitors
were selected by himself
The Christmas
Gift that will
Last a Lifetime
TIDE CLOCKS
and Justin Wallace, the previous
organiser of the event.
Team Event had purchased the
model for the event off Wallace
in 2017, but he was working
with them to run Fight for
Christchurch.
Mitchell told the inquest that
Wallace was the one to make the
final call on matching of fighters.
Wallace also spoke to the
inquest and said he had offered
advice on match-ups, but the final
decision was up to Mitchell.
Wallace said he still thought
Parsons’ match-up was a good one.
On Tuesday, the court heard
from Parsons’ opponent, former
Crusaders, Canterbury and Tasman
halfback Steve Alfeld.
He had “tried to put the matter
behind him” but acknowledged
it was much harder for Parsons’
family.
Reading a statement he made
after the event, Alfeld described
his time in the ring with Parsons.
“When I got punches through
his gloves, I could tell it was
hurting,” he said of the first round
– but he did not think these were
winning him the bout.
In the second round, he found
himself having to defend. Parsons
was “throwing lots of punches,
which I knew from training tired
him out”, Alfeld said.
Then, “his hands came down
and I got one clean punch to the
jaw”.
Parsons was knocked to the
canvas and did not get up. Medical
professionals, who were there as
spectators, helped the ring doctor
and first responders treat him in
the ring before he was transported
to hospital.
He was placed on life support
but died three days later after it
What’s on!
THIS WEEK
was turned off.
“It’s a tragedy to have lost someone
like him,” said Alfeld as he
read his statement to the court.
Coroner Heather McKenzie
thanked Alfeld for giving Parsons
“a voice”.
Also on Tuesday, the inquest
heard from Parsons’ coach and
trainer Brad Milner on what had
happened in the minutes before the
fatal injury, the Herald reported.
During the break between the
first and second rounds, Milner
said he told Parsons that Alfeld
was “dangerous” and clearly had a
lot of power.
He noted that Parsons looked
“unsteady” as he made his way to
the corner but added it was “not
unusual” for boxers to appear that
way during a fight and Parsons
told him he was “okay”.
“I didn’t pull Kain out because
he had good ability. I could see
pulling out was not something he
wanted,” Milner said.
An experienced boxer and
trainer, Milner has since closed
his gym and has not led another
fighter to the ring.
Whether Parsons should have
been matched with Alfeld at all is
among the aspects the inquest will
investigate. Earlier evidence had
shown the match-up came about
because of their comparable size,
weight and experience, the Herald
reported.
Staff ‘a bit shaken’
Fraser said the brazen theft left had left park staff a bit
shaken but it was great to get a “valued member of the
team” back.
Ferrymead Heritage Park management will be assessing
the damage to the ute and working with their insurance
company to get the vehicle back up-and-running.
The Toyota Hilux was recently named as the most stolen
car in New Zealand, according to finance firm MoneyHub.
Over the six-month period between May 1 and October 31,
171 Hilux utes were stolen around the country.
Mystery over report of missing boat
The search for a boat reported missing has been called off
with police believing no one was actually unaccounted for.
Emergency services were called by a member of public last
Thursday evening who said a small sailboat had been blown
out to sea at Boulder Bay near Sumner. Police search and
rescue teams, a helicopter and the Coastguard searched the
area, but nothing was found. Police said they hadn’t found
any information to suggest there was a missing boat.
Big fare rise possible
Canterbury may have $8 bus fares if a Government transport
request is followed. The NZ Transport Agency has asked
local authorities to boost private revenue in a bid to reduce
central and local government funding of public transport.
Currently bus fares are $2. Private revenue makes up 11.7
per cent of Environment Canterbury’s current operational
expenditure but NZTA wants the private revenue proportion
to rise to 38 per cent in the next three years.
First of many hang times at new park
• From page 1
“It is a testimony to the
collaboration of a dedicated
community, central and local
government, Christchurch City
Council and our local community
board,” Hudson said.
“Thousands of hours of work
behind the scenes will now
translate into thousands of hours
of skating fun and communal
activities on the village green.”
City council community parks
manager Al Hardy said the skate
park has been a labour of love for
the Sumner community.
“This has been a long time
coming for the community and
we know this popular project has
been hugely anticipated.
“We’re excited to be able to
deliver this recreational area and
‘hang out’ spot right in the heart
of Sumner – ready in time to
enjoy over the Christmas period
and summer months.”
CELEBRATION: Sumner’s skate park and village green was officially opened with a whenua blessing (below left), yoga
class, market and skate demonstration. Fuse Youth and the city council helped with traffic management.
NEWS 9
Noel still swims daily at 86 after
half a century of surf lifesaving
HAPPY PLACE: Noel Saxton spends most mornings in the pool, after decades of
competitive swimming and surf lifesaving at Taylors Mistake.
PHOTOS: NEWSLINE, AMELIE CLARK SURF/FACEBOOK
NOEL SAXTON swims to keep
fit, stay social and break records.
The 86-year-old, who spent
several decades as surf lifesaver
at Taylors Mistake, trains most
mornings, swimming lengths
with a squad of up to nine others
at Jellie Park.
With over 50 years with Surf
Lifesaving New Zealand, Noel
says he’s been swimming for
most of his life and is continuously
setting new goals.
“Untypically for my generation
I had regular pool training
throughout childhood, albeit
in the unheated 50-yard New
Plymouth seawater baths which
were filled and emptied at each
tide,” Noel said.
“I’ve always had a goal of doing
well at Masters World Athletics
Champs. I try to make new records
and find myself constantly
setting new goals – I thoroughly
enjoy it.”
Noel’s surf lifesaving started
with Old Boys at Oakura, New
Plymouth, followed by a time
with Island Bay in Wellington.
He then spent several decades at
Taylors Mistake.
His days are now predominantly
spent training at Jellie
Park, where he passes the early
hours of the morning in
the water.
“By the time I’ve walked to
the pool, spent a few hours
swimming laps, had a coffee
with my swimming mates and
walked home, half the day is
gone,” Noel said.
“I swim because I love
it – I love the challenge of
competitions, and it’s a great way
to keep fit.”
Noel’s past awards range from
surf lifesaving to swim competitions,
including New Zealand
records at Fina World Swim
Masters in Australia in 2008
and Italy in 2012 in freestyle and
individual medley. He also was
second, fourth and fifth in the
3km open water swims at the
world masters in Christchurch
(2002), Perth (2008) and Italy
(2012).
He received the Jasi Masters
Swim Club swimmer of the year
in 2000, 2007 and 2008, and the
club’s Paul McStay Trophy in
2023.
Noel’s go-to swimming spot
for an outdoor dip is his old
stomping ground at Taylors
Mistake, or the Jellie Park
outdoor pools over the summer
period.
“The outdoor facilities are
fantastic, I love the opportunity
What the buzz is all about
• By Nicky Park
IF YOU feel like there are more,
fatter, flies buzzing around
your home this year, you’re not
wrong.
While there is no official
head count, pest control experts
Kiwicare explain the late spring
weather conditions were good
news for flies.
“We’ve had
the perfect
combination of
warmth and humidity
leading
into summer,”
said Kiwicare’s
Jane McCarrison.
“Usually, if
you’ve had a
Jane
McCarrison
warmer spring, it’s going to be a
particularly bad fly season,” she
said.
“Because of the lack of rainfall
. . . flies which have a breeding
cycle of six to seven days, have
longer periods where they can
breed and multiply without
being washed out.”
Not only have flies had more
time to breed, the common
house fly (the ones that are about
1cm long and feed off dry waste)
can get fatter.
“Because there’s good
conditions, it means that there
will be not only more flies, but
they will be bigger because of
SUPER FLY: Warmth and humidity in spring have led to fatter flies and more of them.
PHOTO: GETTY
that longer stretch of time.”
McCarrison has anecdotal
evidence to stack up the science,
such as a 20 per cent rise in sales
of their fly control products
compared to this time last year.
However, there’s no official way
to know if there are more flies,
or it just feels like it.
“It’s not wrong, it’s just not
proven,” said Dr Julia Kasper, an
entomologist and lead curator of
invertebrates at Te Papa.
Kasper said it does make sense
to be seeing
more blowflies
as they could
be adapting to
urban environments
and there
are more and
more people,
living closer and
closer together. Julia Kasper
“It would definitely help blow
flies to adapt and to increase in
numbers,” she said.
Kasper wonders if there are
other factors at play and we’re
just not very tolerant.
“I think people just forget how
it was last summer. If something
is annoying it feels like, ‘Oh my
God, this is so bad and it has
never been so bad before’.”
Once More from the Top - A Novel
by Emily Layden
Everyone in America knows Dylan Read, or at least has heard her music. Since
releasing her debut album her senior year of high school, Dylan’s spent fifteen
years growing up in the public eye. She’s not only perfected her skills when it
comes to lyrics and melody; she’s also learned how to craft a public narrative
that satisfies her fans, her label, and the media. In the circles of fame and
celebrity in which she now travels, the careful maintenance of Dylan Read pop
star is often more important than the songs themselves.
ENTER TO
WIN
THIS BOOK
And so lots of people think they understand everything about Dylan Read.
But what no one knows is the part of her origin story she has successfully
kept hidden: her childhood best friend Kelsey vanished the year before Dylan
became famous. Now, as Dylan’s at the height of her career, Kelsey’s body is
found at the bottom of their hometown lake—forcing Dylan to reckon with their
shared past, her friend’s influence on her music, and whether there’s more to
their story than meets the eye.
Layered, page-turning, and psychologically astute, Once More from the Top is
a riveting and keenly observant novel about friendship, ambition, and the cost
of fame.
NEWS 11
What can you
do about flies?
Keep bins in check and away
from the door so you’re not luring
flies in. Keep surfaces free of
food scraps and waste to remove
potential breeding sites and break
the fly life cycle.
Said McCarrison: “They breed
everywhere, house flies . . . they
can even breed under tea towels.”
If you have a problem with
flies in your clean and tidy home,
McCarrison suggests setting
up a fly control system that will
automatically spray a childrensafe
mist to kill the insects.
Or you could tackle the problem
head on with a bug bomb that
you set off before heading out for
a couple of hours. You return,
wipe down surfaces and should
have a bug-free home for up to six
months.
Kasper, is a passionate ally
of the fly, has a more relaxed
approach. She doesn’t see a
problem with more flies
and definitely doesn’t want
people going around spraying
them.
“Maybe relax around flies and
just tolerate them,” she said.
Or encourage natural enemies
to your backyard – like birds that
eat bugs.
“I wouldn’t do anything to be
honest, for that question, you’re
asking the wrong person because
I love them.
“We really need to appreciate
what the insects do for us.”
McQueens Valley
trainer strikes in
Akaroa Cup
• By Mike Love
TRAINER STEVE Harding
recorded his biggest win when
Audacity took out the Cabins 2U
Akaroa Cup at Motukarara on
Saturday.
And he didn’t
have to go far
for the win –
he lives just
down the road
at McQueens
Valley.
“It was very
impressive,”
he said of
Steve
Harding
Audacity’s performance.
Audacity made a good
beginning from the unruly
10-metre mark with driver Ross
Cameron. They worked into
the three wide line from the
2000m, improving gradually
to mid-field. Cameron then
went straight to the lead at the
900m where they stayed and
booted away, holding off the only
danger in Xlendi to win by three
quarters of a length, sizzling
home in 55.8 seconds for the
final 800m.
“Ross (Cameron) said he was
going to drive him like the best
horse in the race. He’s done a
very good job. That was Ross’
first cup win as well.
“The only question mark with
him had just been his standing
start manners. But he was so
good on Saturday. He seems to
have turned the corner since he’s
had his break. He was a different
horse the last two starts. He was
just so relaxed in the box where
normally he’d been on edge and
won’t stand still.”
It was Audacity’s fourth win
from 12 starts. A full-time
electrician and hobby trainer
it was Harding’s fourth win of
the season, making it his most
successful so far.
“The plan now is probably
Rangiora and stick to the
country cups. Then he will
probably have a bit of a freshen
up and see what’s around in the
new year.”
Audacity was given to Harding
by owner and breeder Graeme
Trist to work up on the premise
that he would be given a half
share if he were to make it to the
races.
“I did a couple of horses for
him a few years ago. He came
back to me with the La Moocha
breed. He said he had a few
foals coming and whether I’d be
interested in getting them up and
going.”
Audacity is out of In The
Pocket mare La Moocha whose
mother is former New Zealand
Cup winner Kym’s Girl.
“They’ve all been very head
strong in their own different ways.
Most people would have sacked
Audacity in his younger days.”
Trist also bred and part owned
Manjimup who won six races. He
too was trained by Harding and
was out of La Moocha.
“I’m pottering around with
his younger half brother who
is by Betterthancheddar. He’s a
handful but has a lovely way of
going.”
Have yourself a thrifty Christmas
Christmas is a time to get together
and celebrate with your nearest and
dearest, but it can also be one of the
most expensive times of the year.
However, with many of us feeling the
pinch more than usual lately, you may
be looking to keep costs low – but the
good news is there’s plenty of ways to
save a few dollars without sacrificing
the joy of the season.
With a little creativity and careful
planning, you can still have a
memorable Christmas without breaking
the bank.
Set a budget
Firstly, before you get started set a
budget. You can set a budget for the
whole thing, or make yourself several
smaller budgets for presents, food and
drink, decorations, days out etc.
Once you’ve set a budget make sure
you stick to it. The key to not blowing
your budget lies in planning ahead and
resisting the urge to splurge on impulse
buys. You can even download apps that
will help you create an easy-to-follow
budget.
Get crafty
Giving gifts doesn’t have to be
expensive – a handmade present, such
as freshly baked gingerbread biscuits,
knitted scarf, or personalised photo
album, can be more meaningful than
something shop-bought.
And you don’t need to limit your
DIY skills to gift giving, you can also
decorate your home on a shoestring by
making your own wreath or ornaments
– there are plenty of great easy craft
ideas you can find online, and you can
even get the kids involved to keep them
occupied.
Hunt for freebies
There are plenty of free things to do
throughout Christchurch on the run up
One piece is never enough!
to Christmas, such as festive parades
and caroling events.
Pack a picnic and head to your local
park to let the kids blow off some
steam, or even just plonk yourself down
in front of the TV for a festive movie
marathon.
A potluck Christmas feast
If you’re hosting a Christmas
brunch, lunch or dinner, save
cash – and time – by asking
your guests to bring a dish.
It’s a good idea to keep a
list of what everyone is
bringing so you know what
is covered and what you’ll
need to make.
As well as helping to
keep costs low, you’ll also
spend less time in the
kitchen and more time
enjoying the day. Win/
Take time to start a new tradition this Christmas
Christmas is the time to come together
with your nearest and dearest to celebrate,
reflect and create some new memories.
Most families have their own traditions
that have stood the test of time, but if
you’re looking to add something new to
your celebrations then why not give one
of these fun ideas a go?
Christmas Eve box
Kick start the celebrations – and
excitement – early by making a Christmas
Eve box for your little ones.
Simply grab a large decorative box or
hamper, and fill it with some new PJs,
socks, hot cocoa mix, sweet treats, and
a book you can read before bed to help
them nod off before Santa arrives.
Christmas countdown
We’re all familiar with advent calendars
but this year have a go at making a
completely personalised countdown to the
25 December.
You could come up with 24 different
daily activities you can do as a family,
such as baking gingerbread cookies,
decorating the tree, or a day out to meet
Santa.
If that sounds a bit too high energy, why
not create a list of 24 Christmas movies
to watch together? You can make it feel
extra special with festive snacks and hot
chocolate.
Have pyjama day
Chose a day in December and declare it
Christmas Pyjama Day – a day when you
spend the whole day in your pjs watching
Christmas movies, playing boardgames
and doing fun arts and crafts.
Make it feel extra special by buying new
pjs for the whole family (bonus points if
they match!) and kicking the day off with
a delicious breakfast.
Check out Christmas around
the world
Introduce your loved ones to some new
Christmas traditions by exploring how the
big day is celebrated around the world.
Choose a country and make an effort
to sample the typical food, decorations
and activities that take place during the
running up to Christmas - for example,
tuck into KFC like they do in Japan, or
carve radishes in honour of Mexico’s
Night of the Radishes.
Frugal Swift Hybrid an engaging drive
MISERLY FUEL economy has
underpinned the success of the
last three generations of the
Suzuki Swift 5-door hatch, with
the hybrid variant the thriftiest
of them all.
According to combined fuel
consumption tests, the Swift
Hybrid’s 4.1L/100km has the
potential, if the driver has the
discipline to go easy on the
throttle, to potentially travel
about 900 kilometres on a full
tank of petrol.
The starting point for this
likeable little fuel miser $28,990
mid-spec GLX, or you can opt
for something more posh with
the $31,990 RS. A two-tone roof
is a $500 extra but does add a bit
of affordable visual pizzazz.
This RS shouldn’t be confused
with the RS Sport – the turbo
charged performance member
of the Swift family that sells
for $31,990 with an old school
manual transmission, or another
$2k with for the automatic.
The hybrid RS Swift added to
the Swift Catalogue two years
Motoring with Bob Nettleton
ago is just the ticket for those
who want hybrid thrift, but don’t
want to go frugal on the finer
things of motoring life, which
they get in an abundance of in
this model.
Standard equipment includes
electrically folding exterior
mirrors, climate control air
conditioning, steering wheel
mounted paddle shifters, keyless
entry, push button start, and a
tilt/telescopic adjustment for the
steering wheel.
It has the added safety of
buffer of Suzuki’s advanced
forward detection system, lane
keep function, lane departure
warning, weaving alert and
blind spot monitoring. Rear
cross traffic alert warns the
driver of nearby but of unseen
vehicles while reversing, along
with rear parking proximity
sensors.
Braking is upgraded over the
GLX with discs brakes all round
and dual sensor brake support
comprising a monocular camera
that “sees” mid-to-long distance
and can detect pedestrians.
Once the RS is moving above
40km/h, the headlight high
beam assist automatically
switches the headlights between
high and low beam depending
on the presence of other vehicles
and the lighting environment.
This feature really does make for
stress free night driving and the
drudgery of constantly dipping
your headlights for on-coming
traffic.
Mechanically, the cheaper
GLX and RS share the same
1.2 litre 4-cylinder motor.
Suzuki launched its Smart
Hybrid Vehicle system (SHVS)
in 2016. It is a self-charging
hybrid featuring a specially
developed power unit assisted
by a compact, high performing
12-volt lithium-ion battery that
adds a modest 25kg to the car’s
kerb weight.
This mild hybrid uses a motor
to support fuel-consuming
standing starts and acceleration
and utilises automatic stop-start
with the petrol motor shutting
down when the car is stationary
in traffic. Besides assisting
the engine with an efficient
regeneration rate, the compact
lithium-ion battery also powers
various electrical components,
including engine electronics, the
speedometer and audio unit.
Rating out of 10: Performance 6; Handling 7; Build Quality
7; Comfort 6; Space 6; Styling 7; Fuel Economy, road test
average consumption 4.8L/100km; Value for money 7; Safety,
ANCAP 5-star crash test rating.
Overall points out of 10: 6.5
During deceleration the
system checks the charge status
of the batteries and recharges
them as needed. When the
battery charge is up to speed,
instead of generating electricity,
engine power is solely used for
driving.
Interestingly, a base petrolonly
1.2L Swift GL averages a
miserly 4.7L/100km. This is only
half a litre more than the hybrid
consumes every 100km and may
have some questioning whether
the extra premium for the
hybrid is good value for money.
With that small difference
in fuel savings, it’s going to
take ages to recover that price
difference.
Together the engine and
electric motor have a combined
power output of 64kW, which
by today’s hybrid standards is
modest, but then this is older
generation hybrid technology.
This rather limp power output
doesn’t make for pedestrian
rather than electrifying
performance. However, the
sedate progress give you more
time to appreciate the fuel
savings the motor is making,
and impressively low emissions
of 94g/km.
With its dated hybrid tech,
the test car didn’t feel as lively as
rivals such as the Toyota Yaris
and Honda Jazz. The lack of
performance intent is mitigated
somewhat by the engines
smoothness and low noise
levels. I was disappointed at just
how little time the test vehicle
operated in electric-only mode
over flat terrain in around town
driving.
Hopefully an all-new Swift
due here in the next few months
does better.
Despite its advancing years,
the current Swift remains a
clever design. A good example
is more compact engine
compartment that frees up more
cabin and load space, although
never in copious amounts.
A clean modern fascia
complete with seven-drink
holders is a masterstroke, but
not the prevalence of hard
plastic surfaces throughout the
cabin that are reminder of the
Swift’s budget car DNA.
MacPherson strut and
coil spring suspension have
successfully under pinned
Swifts for a while. Further
refinements made for this model
provide small but worthwhile
improvements.
It’s now more adept at
absorbing bumps and vehicle
occupant comfort has improved,
but the suspension can be noisy
over high frequency bumps
during low-speed town driving.
This Swift trademark agility is
better than ever and the steering
is crisp and responsive, making
for a playful and engaging drive
over undulating roads, and is an
expected bonus in a mini hatch
in this price bracket.
