Managing a remote video production team does come with its challenges, but having the right communication and project management tools makes a huge difference. I personally use Slack, Teams, Trello, and Zoom (sometimes Google Meet), and they’ve been essential in keeping my team organized and productive. Real-time messaging, video calls, and structured task management help streamline collaboration and ensure everyone stays on track.

Tools are cool , however I believe that it is primordial to not follow any hype over them. Implementing some project management tools sometimes can hurt the productivity of a team ( especially small ones ) as they take time and effort to ajust to them . My rule is : use the minimum amount of tools possible , if google sheet is enough for the size and tasks for your team don't switch to asana or trello just because you feel like it . The goal is to be agile rather than look or seem agile.

The tools we use most are Slack, Frame.io for real-time feedback, Notion and Airtable. I find these tools to be the most intuitive and user-friendly while being really good for their intended purpose. Google Meet is also our video meeting tool of choice because of its ease of integration into other tools.

Mostly Discord, and occasionally an Instagram direct message. I could be more detailed about it, but communication comes easy between the two platforms

for motion production, It's all about the planning phase, getting the brief right for your team, and preparing your timeline. clear the communication with your client before clearing it with your team( set the timeline with milestones and deliverables) we prefer to use any platform with a Gantsheet plan, this way each team can follow the timeline process,( Monday website, Asan ) and we need a chat app ( google-slack ) Meeting app (Google Meet) You always have to be available for your team to clear their concerns and struggles

I’ve personally loved using slack or discord. I’m an avid zoom hater and am forced to keep it in my arsenal because so many of these professional nerds use it 🤷♂️ All these tools are good to use as long as everyone is on the same page on when and where to communicate. As long as you’re not texting each other over email

We worked on a documentary film with another team in another country, using Zoom to communicate the project clearly and often. If we did not use email for quick updates, we used WhatsApp and another app for quick messaging. One of my favorite tools for seeing the visual plan for the long trip was Milanote, which showcased the lookbook for the film's theme, so precisely and accurately. When we were on foot filming my team and I were very grounded and knew exactly what we needed to do because of the awesome preparation and organization of the project.

When I started to coordinate the Production team in Ready Set I confirmed how important is to be eficient in terms of communication. Slack is a great tool ‘cause allows us to implement a lot automatizations regarding tasks and meetings. We’ve been working with zoom and Google Meet, both works fine. But the star of out system is Monday. We can keep track of every stage of all our projects in there!! For us works amazing as a project management tool! I surely recommend it to everybody that needs to run a production company remotely!
