Paying your DCC accounts

There are several ways to pay your DCC accounts:

  • Eftpos, cash or credit card at a customer service centre (Please note: a surcharge will be applied for all credit card payments at a service centre). For locations and opening hours of customer service centres refer to Customer services page.
  • Eftpos or cash at an NZ Post agency. For locations and opening hours see nzpost website.
  • Direct credit and internet banking
  • Direct debit
  • Credit card online (a surcharge may apply)

It is up to you to monitor your account balance and ensure there are sufficient funds to cover your payment. Penalties will apply if the account is not paid on time.

    To help us process direct credit and internet banking payments, please post, fax or email your remittance advices on, or before, the date of payment with ‘Direct Credit Accounts Receivable’ on the address or subject line.

  • General debtors - Direct debits, direct credit and internet banking

    Direct debit

    Direct debits are our preferred method of account payment. If you set up a direct debit, it means that we will make sure your account is paid on time and in full and you can be confident you won’t incur penalties - even if you’re away!

    The direct debit form below can be used for paying any invoice except rates and water. This includes resource and building consents, liquor and health licenses, building warrant of fitness, parking permits including residents parking permits, skip and container permits

    Setting up a direct debit agreement:

    • Download and complete (with signature) the Direct Debit agreement form.
    • Contact us. We will send you a direct debit application form and a freepost envelope.

    You can:

    • drop the form back to us at any of our customer services centres
    • post it to Freepost Authority Number 247608, Dunedin City Council, PO Box 5243, Moray Place, Dunedin 9058 (no stamp required)
    • email the form to finance.accountsreceivable@dcc.govt.nz

    We will send you a confirmation letter when we have processed your application. The letter will include the amount to be direct debited and the starting date.

    When completing the form for a monthly payment, do not use a date between the 29th and 31stof the month, as not all calendar months have those dates available for payment and don't forget to sign it.

  • Pay from your bank account using Account2Account

    What is Account2Account?

    Account2Account is a payment method for customers who don't have, or don't use a credit card. You can make online payments directly from your bank account in real time through our website.

    You can make Account2Account transactions if you bank with:

    • ANZ
    • ASB
    • BNZ
    • Kiwibank
    • TSB
    • Westpac

    None of the customer’s bank account information is stored. The same security features on the customer’s bank account, such as additional authentication, are part of Account2Account payment process.

    The Account2Account page is securely hosted by Windcave and is compliant to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.

    Is there a fee for using Account2Account?

    We don’t add any extra charges for using Account2Account.

    What will show on my bank statement?

    Your bank statement will show: DCC online payment, DpsA2A. It will also show a personalised reference number.

    What can I pay online using Account2Account?

    You can use Account2Account to pay for a range of things including rates, LIMs, infringements, and dog registration. Anything you can pay online by credit card, you can also use Account2Account for.

Direct debit

Pay online

You can use our ‘Pay online’ form to pay many of the infringement notices issued or to pay Dog re-registration accounts. There’s more information in the related information section below.

Changing your rates and water account payments

If you move properties, and you pay via internet banking or direct credit, you need to contact your bank and make sure that the bank has your new rate reference number(s) as this refers to a property, not a person.

If this information is not updated, payments will continue to be credited to your old property rather than your new property. We take no responsibility for payments credited to rate accounts in error.
